In this tutorial, I’m writing the complete methods to perform Factory Reset of a Firestick. In fact, I’m attaching all the necessary screenshots of performed steps so that it makes easy for you to reset your Firestick. This guide also works for Reset any Amazon Fire TV devices like- Fire TV (1st and 2nd generation), Fire TV Stick (2nd and 3rd generation), and Fire TV Cube.
There could be numerous reasons to reset a firestick. Either performance issue or any other software glitches could be resolved after resetting your Fire TV devices.
Amazon Fire TV Stick is the most powerful and cheapest device for cord-cutting options. It runs on the customized Android OS that is known as Fire OS. This tinny but powerful device brings lots of streaming opportunities including free alternatives.
There are many top-rated firestick apps that provide free streaming of movies, tv shows, live tv channels, sports channels, adult videos, etc. It supports all the Android apps sideloaded externally; either via Downloader or Filelinked.
After sideloading multiple apps, device performance reduces. So, it can be fixed by doing a factory reset of Firestick. Once you perform the factory reset; all your apps and data will be formatted and your Firestick will perform like a brand-new device.

How To Reset Firestick?
Follow these steps to Reset a Firestick device-
- Go to Settings.
- Select My Fire TV.
- Scroll Down and Select Reset To Factory Defaults.
- Select Reset to confirm this process.
- Wait for a few seconds.
- Your Amazon Fire TV Stick is being reset.
- Wait till the reset process is completed.
- Select I’m already an Amazon customer.
- Enter your Amazon Account and password once asked.
- Complete the setup process and experience the best performance of your device.
These are simple steps you need to follow to complete the Firestick Factory Reset process.
How To Factory Reset Firestick?
I already explained above, here’s a detailed process to Reset an Amazon Fire TV Stick-
1- Go to Firestick home
Make sure your Firestick is connected with a WiFi network. Your Firestick homepage will load correctly if it’s connected with a WiFi network. Go to Firestick home to make sure, all the options loaded completely.
2- Select Settings
Now, with the help of your Firestick remote, go to the settings option of Firestick.
3- Open My Fire TV
Once you press the right-side button on your Firestick remote, you’ll see an option as “My Fire TV“. Scroll there and press the select button on the remote.
4- Choose Reset to Factory Defaults
Scroll down and select Reset to Factory Defaults option.
5- Select Reset
A confirmation pop-up will appear. Select the Reset option to perform this action.
6- Wait…
Wait for a few seconds. You Amazon Fire TV Stick is resetting. Please don’t remove power cable during this process.
Your Firestick could restart several times after completion of the reset process. Please wait until your Firestick Reset to Factory defaults.
After that, you’ll be asked to log in with an Amazon account. Enter your account username and password to complete the setup process. Once it’s completed, you’ll experience a smoother and better performance with Firestick.
Shortcuts To Reset Firestick to Factory Defaults
