Kodi 17.6 (also known as Kodi Krypton) is the most stable version of XBMC Media Centre application till date. Though, Kodi 18.0 aka Kodi Leia has been released under beta testing.
Kodi is the most popular media application I ever have seen. It’s available for almost all the operating systems. But, here we are going to talk about Kodi Android devices only.
If you using official ROM of Android phones then you can directly install it from the Google Play Store. But, if your Android devices like FireTVstick or rooted Android phones don’t have Play Store, you can download Kodi 17.6 Apk to install manually.
So, here I’m talking about the manual installation of Kodi Apk 17.6 for all those Android devices where Play store not installed. In order to install it, you need to download Kodi Apk 17.6 from the official website. Read the steps below to download and install Kodi.
How to Install Kodi 17.6 Apk on Android 8.1 (Oreo) Phones
The process of installing Kodi 17.6 Krypton Apk on Android Oreo (8.0/8.1) phones is extremely simple. Yes, the process is a bit different from Android 6.0 (Lollipop) or earlier versions. Just follow the steps given below-
Step- 1: Download Kodi 17.6 Apk
First and foremost step to install Kodi on Android Oreo phones are to download Kodi 17.6 Apk file. However, you can directly install Kodi from the official store for Android. But, here I’m talking about manual installation.
So, get the Kodi Apk 17.6 (Krypton) from here. Just hit the download button below and make sure that you’re using Google Chrome Browser for this job.
Step- 2: Open File Manager
Here you need to take care off. Make sure you’re opening the File Manager instead of opening from the notification bar. Because of the recent update in Android 8.0 (Oreo) or above, you cannot install external Apk file without allowing the unknown source individually.
In the earlier version of Android, we can directly enable Unknown Sources from the Security Settings of the device. But, after Android Oreo (8.0) update, we need to allow the source individually. So, follow the exact step, I’m showing.
Step- 3: Tap on the Kodi 17.6 Apk file
Open the File Manager from the apps menu. Go to Download folder and tap on the downloaded file.
Now, you’ll be asked to allow unknown source permission for File Manager. Enable it and hit the back button. Now, again tap on Kodi 17.6.Apk file to begin the installation.
Step- 4: Hit Install
There are two options will be available on your phone screen-
1. Cancel (left-bottom corner)
2. Install (right-bottom corner)
Here you have to select the right-bottom corner option. Means, hit the install button to begin the process.
Note- You’ll be asked to accept the device permissions in between. So, accept all the permissions asking by Kodi.
Step- 5: Wait…
Once you accept the permissions, within a few seconds Kodi will be installed on your Android phone. Once the installation is done, exit to home and goes to apps menu and tap on Kodi icon to launch it.
Note- If you first time user of Kodi then install these best addons on your media player.
