Amazon Developers frequently releases Firesick updates. And in this tutorial, I’ll show you how to update a firestick device to the latest Fire OS release. The process will also work for Amazon Fire TV Cube, and Fire TV Stick 4K.

Fire TV Stick or Firestick a world popular media streaming device. It helps you to watch IPTV contents on your non-smart televisions. The device is powered by Fire OS and it’s an API based customized OS of Android. Fire OS is highly optimized operating system and supports all Android applications.

You can check if any updates available or not for your Firestick device. These are the manual methods to check the availability of Fire OS release-

  1. Power ON your Firestick.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Select My Fire TV.
  4. Go to About.
  5. Scroll down and select Check for updates.
  6. Wait… An update is downloading.
  7. Finish the update.

How To Update Firestick- (Step-By-Step Guide)

Follow these step-by-step guide to update Firestick OS-

1- Go to Firestick home

Power ON your TV and FireStick and connect to a wireless network. Make sure your network has a working internet with decent speed.

2- Select Settings

Using your FireStick remote, select Settings option.

3- Open My Fire TV

Once you press the right-side button on your Firestick remote, you’ll see an option as “My Fire TV“. Scroll there and press the select button on the remote.

4- Select About

You can see various options on your TV screen. Select About option with the help of your remote.

5- Choose Check for Updates

Scroll down and click on Check for Updates. Your Firestick will communicate to the Amazon server and find you latest released updates by Amazon developers. Just wait for a few seconds.

6- Wait…

Wait… Firestick downloading the update. The time depends on your internet connection and downloads size.

7- Select Install Update

Your Fire TV update file is downloaded. Now you can install this update manually or Firestick will automatically install it when your device is not in use. I can’t wait, so I recommend you to go and install this update manually. Just select Install Update to begin the installation process.

8- Wait…

Amazon FireTVstick finishing updates. Just wait and your Firestick will automatically install the latest update. It might possible that your Firestick restarts several times during installation. Don’t press any button on your Fire TV remote.
